Clearwater

Impact ES and Saint Petersburg College Partner for Training Course

The partnership between Impact ES and Saint Petersburg College in Clearwater, FL took months of planning to make sure we had everything needed to make the project a success. On Tuesday, May 7th, MIT Karen Smalls conducted the IPC-A-610 CIS class with 8 students in attendance. The majority of the students were new to the concept of IPC, but soon gained the knowledge of acceptable criteria of electronic assemblies.

This class covers criteria for all Class 3 products, and students learned how to apply the criteria to internal quality functions. At the end of the 6-week course, students were able to rejoice by obtaining their IPC-A-610 CIS certification.

Currently, MIT Mark Hood kicked off the first J-STD-001 CIS course on July 9th. This class covers soldering criteria and allows students to get hands-on experience. Students will learn how to operate the machinery and how to solder the following: wires and terminals, through-hole components, surface mount components, and how to inspect a printed circuit board (PCB). At the end of the course, students will not only receive a J-STD-001 CIS certificate but will be eligible to interview with some of the top companies within the electronic manufacturing industry.

Our partnership with Saint Petersburg College has been an exciting experience, and we look forward to growing the program by offering more IPC courses in the future.
